Tell your friends you’re about to buy a dog sofa and you may well get funny looks. A couch for your pooch or settee for your mutt doesn’t sound like the most sensible purchase in the world. Think again – in terms of the comfort of you and your dog and the look of your room, it could be the best thing you’ve bought this year.
Some very good reasons why:
- No more settee-sharing! Goodbye sofa wars, the big one is for humans, and your dog has his own! This is a strong reason for me – no more guilt, shoving him off onto the floor and no more hairy cushions.
- Raised beds – for draughty rooms, dog sofas are raised up off the floor so your dog isn’t taking the full force of any cold air from under the door.
- Non-slip – if you’ve got wooden floors, they have legs so they don’t slip around. Gone is the fun, fun, fun of your dog dragging his bed around the floor to then leave it exactly where everyone will fall over it. A dog couch stays where you (and not he) puts it.
- They look gorgeous! In a variety of styles and materials, the range of dog sofa beds is increasing all the time. Plush crushed velvet, wooden framed for stability and sturdiness, or faux-leather for the muckier pup, you can find a dog sofa bed to suit both your dog and your decor.
We took a look at the best range of dog sofa beds out there and found Wayfair was the clear winner. Out of any retailer, they have the best and classiest range and are really, really inexpensive for what you get. Pets at Home have few sofas but a bigger dog faux leather sofa if you’ve got a labrador-sized dog who needs a tougher bed – review will follow soon.
So, for around £50, you can be the proud owner of a sumptuously stylish mini sofa or even chaise-long in the corner of your sitting room.
