A comfortable, warm and well made bed with gorgeous waxed-jacket outer. Available in 4 sizes - see below.
We got a Barbour dog bed as the previous beds we’ve bought our Schnauzer haven’t lasted as long as I had hoped. I’ve ended up having to replace them mainly because the seams get chewed and then he pulls the stuffing out of them – seems to be a great game.
We are very happy with this bed. It’s well padded around the sides and the removable cushion is very full and soft which looks super-comfortable – no complaints from our dog anyway. The cushion is fleecy at the bottom and tartan on the top, so also nice and warm. Barbour are used to making tough jackets for all weather and as we are big walkers and my dog is also a little bit on the naughty side with chewing, the fabric and quality of the Barbour bed makes sense for us.
The outside is classic waxed-jacket material – very easy to clean any dirt off, and the inside is Barbour / Burberry type tartan which gives it a trad. English feel. You can’t machine-wash this dog bed so I suppose that is the one drawback. I don’t find that too much of a problem though as when I’ve washed his bed before, I’ve spent ages fishing dog hairs out of the washing machine. Anyway, I am fine with occasionally sponge cleaning the tartan fabric or I use just a bit of fabric cleaning spray once every so often.
The best thing about the dog bed for me personally is that it’s just very, very well made. The seams are external on the cushion so practically impossible to pick apart (so far so good anyway) and the bed seams are neat and tight – just as you’d expect.
I ordered it through the John Lewis website, so that was easy for me plus I could return it to Waitrose if I didn’t like it. Anyway, it’s a keeper and we’re both (dog and me) very happy with it.
Editor: The dog bed comes in 4 different sizes but they’re listed as separate products, so choose the right one for your dog – we’ve put them here below with the sizes for you.
