Santa’s little helper? Our list of the best Christmas presents for your dog

Christmas dog

Christmas time is for treating the ones you love and of course, our dogs need a little something too.   So what are our suggestions?   Read on for the list of the best dog Christmas presents this year.  And of course, we’ll start with dog beds!

1. Best Dog Bed for Cosy Christmas Cuddles  –  Petface Grey Bamboo & Jumbo Cord Dog Bed

AvaiPetface jumbo cord dog bedlable at Argos, from £26.99

One of our Top Ten Best dog beds, the Petface bamboo and cord dog bed was loved by our reviewers and is a wonderfully warm and cosy bed your dog will love to snuggle into.  The light and dark grey design is decorated with Christmassy red dachshunds – so looks festive but is great for year-round use too.  Cheap for what it is, it’s washable and robust enough to last even with an energetic puppy.

2. Best Dog Bed for Seasonal Style   –  Chilli Dog Pet Bed

Bertie-in-Chilli-Dog-Pet-BedAvailable at Amazon, from £29.99

Loved by two of our reviewers (thanks Abi and Jennie), the Chilli Dog Pet Bed is an all-round great value dog bed which washes well, lasts despite chewing, and looks lovely.  The fabric choices are impressive – at least 12 different types of polka dot, floral, check, tartan, star, animal print or soft cord materials to choose from.  As a Christmas present for your dog or puppy,  the maroon (more red as you can see from the picture with Bertie) is a bit of a seasonal sensation.

3. Best Dog Bed for Country Walkers – Barbour Waxed Cotton Dog Bed

Available at John Lewis, from £39Barbour-large-dog-bed

For a quality-made, warm, cosy yet tough dog bed, the Barbour dog bed was a winner with our reviewer – more here.  Its cushion is classic tartan one side and soft fleece the other so provides style and comfort.   If you’re into Barbour’s country classic look, the ‘Barbour International Dog Coat‘ is a stunner for wintry walks – another one on our doggy Christmas list for Santa.

4. Best Christmas Dog Treat – Fred & Ginger Dog Friendly Mince Pies

Available at John Lewis, £4.50Fred & Ginger Dog Friendly Mince Pies
Yum!  These went down a treat with the doggie testers.  No detailed review from our four-legged friends but just a request for ‘More please!’  A Christmas Day treat – just remember not to tuck into them yourselves.  To be honest, I reckon a good helping of brandy butter and you probably wouldn’t notice.

5.  Best Christmas Toy for dogs (and their owners) – Nerf Dog Ball Blaster

Nerf Dog Ball BlasterAvailable at Amazon, £12.79
Not just for dogs but serious fun for owners too.  If you want to make the Christmas day walk more fun this is a great idea.  Works with tennis balls, the Nerf Dog Blaster gives everyone entertainment and a much needed run around – dogs, kids and husbands.  It’s not seriously powerful – a strong right arm or a ball launcher can throw as far – but this is one toy I’m buying for presents too.
